Rafting BIG Water in the Grand Canyon in 1983, Part I

April 7, 2008.

Longtime O.A.R.S. guide, Jeffe Aronson, put together a slideshow of some BIG water in the Grand Canyon in 1983. That was the year the Glen Canyon dam nearly burst. As a frame of reference, for those of you who have rafted the Grand Canyon during the summer months, you probably experienced it between 10,000-20,000 cfs (cubic feet per second). The river was running at 100,000 cfs when these images were captured. Big Fun!
