Goodbye 2007…
December 31, 2007.It is my New Year’s Eve tradition to reflect upon the past 364 days and consider successes, failures and just relive some fond memories. Two personal highlights, not just for the year, but for a lifetime: being a judge at the Women’s Chicken Calling Contest at the Iowa State Fair this summer (truly) and being brought into the O.A.R.S. crew. These are adventurous, fun, professional folks!
It was a monumental year for O.A.R.S. and we are honored and humbled by our successes.
National Geographic Adventure Magazine honored O.A.R.S. as “The Best River & Sea Outfitter on Earth for 2008”. This award was based on our reputation for outstanding customer service, sustainable practices and our adventures that emphasize heightened attentiveness to human impact on the environment.
Our “Mystical Peru: From the Source of the Amazon to the Heights of Machu Piccu”, was also named by National Geographic Adventure Magazine as one of the “25 Best New Trips in the World” for 2008.
Our “Tuolumne Wine on the River Trip” was given NBC’s Golden Grape Award as their “Best Wine Adventure for 2007”.
Special kudos to our Reservations Manager, Mindy Gleason. Condé Nast Traveler awarded her one of its “2007 Top Travel Specialists”.
Our biggest success stories, however, are our guests’ smiling faces and rave reviews.
Thank you to each of our fellow adventurers for allowing us to continue living our dream - to make the joys of the wilderness accessible to everyone - no matter how experienced.
Happy New Year … let’s hope 2008 brings fulfillment to lifelong dreams - and new dreams to keep us young.
